Ironically, I think I "borrowed" it from an old girlfriend to begin with. What comes around goes around, I guess. Anyway, I'm rebuilding my CD collection, not to mention my life, and I figured I'd start with Punk Rock Jukebox. I just got my new copy, 4/4(1).

Only Queen could somehow get away with recording a song that was elitist—again a very punk rock move--especially with a lyric like “No time for losers” -- the antithesis of rock & roll's democratising quality (“'We Are the Champions' was the most egotistical and arrogant song I've ever written,” Mercury was quoted as saying).

Depends on what you mean by “alive”. Are people still, forty years later, playing something they call punk rock? Yes. Are there still young people spiking their hair and wearing leather jackets? Yes. Is playing the musical form of your grandparent.

In retrospect, the combination was a natural one: both types of music were vehicles for the expression of rage and disaffection. We're Only Gonna Die (From Our Own Arrogance) [Remastered] Listen Now $ Auch nach langer Zeit immer wieder gut. Hatte mir die CD schon mal mit 18 gekauft. Jetzt, fast 20 Jahre später, höre ich sie /5(42).

Although it's a three-disc set, this first volume of Legacy's Rock and Roll Jukebox could have easily been edited into a single disc, since the individual discs only run ten songs each. What's here is fine, though, whatever the packaging format, since each song was a deserving hit in the early '60s, and tracks like the Shangri-Las' "Leader of the Pack," Fats Domino's "Blueberry .
